All
things are always changing,
But nothing dies. The spirit comes and goes,
Is housed wherever it wills, shifts residence...
but always
It keeps on living. As the pliant wax
Is stamped with new designs, and is no longer
What once it was, but changes form, and still
Is pliant wax, so do I teach that spirit
Is evermore the same, though passing always
To ever-changing bodies.
The
MetamorphosesOvid
There
is no greater awakening of consciousness than stark physical circumstance.
In an effort to bring clarity to the enigma
which is mortality, that is, our physical transformation at midlife,
we turned to the history of the nude and ideals of beauty.
We have challenged, contradicted and synthesized art history in
order to find our own place in our world.
In
2002, we began photographing ourselves and other women. The images
we created are
a magical rearrangement of proportions to express the time and
timelessness we feel in our bones. All Things are Always Changing
is our personal Stonehenge, Acropolis and Sistine Chapel.
